Pre-Owned Watch Condition Examination
This Omega watch is in overall great, honest vintage condition. The case is strong with scratches and some light nicks along the edges. The case appears to have been polished. The bezel is in good condition with light wear and light scratches. The dial is in overall excellent condition with light patina. The lume on the dial has aged to an attractive pale yellowish color. The hands have developed patina and the lume in the hands have aged to a beige/sandy color a bit darker than the lume on the dial. The bracelet is in great condition with normal signs of wear and scratches; it has a bit of stretch which is not uncommon for this style bracelet. The signed Omega crystal is in great condition with light wear.
Description: Omega Speedmaster
Pre-owned Omega Speedmaster ref 145.022 (1982). This edition of the vintage Speedy Pro was produced between the 1960s and 1980s, during which the brand released many iterations. For that exact reason, it can be a very rewarding watch to collect and hunt for on the secondary market. Furthermore, ref. 145.022 is often positioned as an affordable vintage model and an excellent gateway into Omega Moonwatch ownership.
We have a fascinating edition of the series for sale here circa 1982. The caliber 861 (the successor to the celebrated caliber 321) is hard at work inside the case, beating at a higher frequency of 21,600 bph. As a later-production model, it also sports a flat dial rather than the older-style step dial and a case back engraved with the distinctions “FLIGHT QUALIFIED BY NASA FOR ALL MANNED SPACE MISSIONS” and “THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON” surrounding the Speedmaster medallion in curved text. This watch is an outstanding find for anyone searching for an affordable gateway to vintage Omega Moon Watch ownership.
